Young adults

Children between the age of approximately 12 and 16 are still growing at a very fast rate, and although much of their physical attributes are similar to those of an older adult, one key area is not!

The growth line at each end of a young adult’s bones are not fully formed and hardened as they are in a fully-grown adult. Under heavy load these growth lines can slip to one side or the other permanently deforming the bone growth.

Heavy weight lifting is not generally recommended for young adults, however body weight exercises can be used to achieve great success in posture and muscle tone within this age group.

Adequate flexibility is also important for young adults, as growth spurts, in which bone growth accelerates faster than the muscle lengthening are commonplace.

These goals can be achieved though NASM's OPT™ IST SET & EET
